What HumHub really costs in 2026

HumHub is free to download, and most organizations pay for something around it: a server or a host, a few paid modules, sometimes the Professional Edition. This guide lists every price with its source and adds them up for a 100-person organization.

Last updated: . Written by CUZY, which hosts HumHub; facts about other products are linked to their sources.

In shortThe software costs nothing. A 100-person organization pays between about €250 a year (a small server you run yourself, plus two paid modules and your own hours) and about €1,700 a year (the Professional Edition, its modules and the support of HumHub's developers, with their hosting). Managed hosting of the free edition sits in between: CUZY Team is €900 a year with unlimited members. Every figure below is dated October 2026 and linked to its source.

The software: free, with no user limit

HumHub's Community Edition is open source under the AGPL. Anyone can download it from GitHub and run it for any number of members, for ever, with spaces, streams, wiki, files, calendar, tasks, polls, messaging, the member directory and the mobile app. There is no "free tier" that stops at a number of users: the limit is the server you give it.

The Professional Edition is the same core plus modules sold by HumHub GmbH, the company that develops HumHub: Advanced LDAP, SAML single sign-on, SOLR search, News with read receipts, the Enterprise Theme, a white-label footer and a few more, with the support of the people who write the core. Its price depends on the number of users and starts at €108 a month for up to 100 users on your own servers (on-premise, with your own code and themes uploaded as you like), or €144 with the publisher's hosting; yearly billing takes 10% off, and from 1,000 users the price is a quote (humhub.com/pricing, excluding VAT). Onboarding packages with workshops cost €0, €1,575 or €2,575 once. What that offer has that CUZY does not is on its own page.

The Community Edition carries, as free modules, OpenID Connect sign-in (Keycloak, Microsoft Entra, Google), two-factor authentication, the REST API and basic LDAP; the Professional Edition is the choice when its modules, the publisher's support or an on-premise installation with your own code are what you need.

The modules: mostly free, the paid ones priced once a year

The HumHub marketplace listed about 130 modules in October 2026; most are free. The paid ones are priced per installation and per year, from €9 (a link-preview widget) to €360 (eCommerce), whatever the number of members. CUZY's 27 paid modules go from €25 to €360 the first year and renew at half that price; the 7 others are free. The catalog with every price is on the modules page.

On CUZY Hosting the arithmetic changes: Team gets the paid CUZY modules at 50% off and Business includes all of them in the plan.

The hosting: from a few euros to a few hundred a month

Running HumHub needs a server, a database, a mail relay, backups, updates and someone who watches it. The options, from the least to the most done for you, are compared one by one on the hosting providers page; the prices are these.

What a 100-person organization pays in a year

The same organization in four setups: 100 people, a member directory on a map and forms (two paid CUZY modules, Members Map and Survey, €90 and €90 the first year), yearly billing where it exists. Hours are counted, not priced: they are the figure that decides.

SetupHosting or licenseModulesTotal, first yearYour hours
Self-hosted€72€180€252about 4 hours a month
CUZY Team€900€90€990none
CUZY Business€4,500€0€4,500none
HumHub GmbH SaaS€1,555€180€1,735none
  • Self-hosted: A server at about €6 a month, the two modules at full price, updates, backups and security by your own person.
  • CUZY Team: Yearly billing; the two modules at 50% off; unlimited members, 5 administrators, 10 GB.
  • CUZY Business: Yearly billing; every CUZY module included; unlimited administrators, 1 TB, emails from your domain, custom modules.
  • HumHub GmbH SaaS: Yearly billing (10% off €144 a month, excluding VAT); the two CUZY modules bought on the marketplace; the Professional Edition modules, the support and the workshops of the company that develops HumHub.

Two things the table does not show. Per-user platforms would cost this organization $4 to $15 a person and a month, €5,000 to €18,000 a year for 100 people (the cost guide does that arithmetic). And the self-hosted line is the only one whose cost rises with the organization's own hours: the day the administrator leaves, the price of that line is unknown.

Questions

Is HumHub really free?

The Community Edition is free and open source under the AGPL, with no user limit and no time limit; it is the same core that the Professional Edition runs. What costs money is running it (a server or a host) and, if you want them, paid modules or the Professional Edition modules.

What does the Professional Edition add?

The modules HumHub GmbH, the company that develops HumHub, sells with it: Advanced LDAP, SAML single sign-on, SOLR search, News with read receipts, the Enterprise Theme; the support of the core developers and onboarding workshops; and the choice between its hosting and an on-premise installation where you upload your own code. The Community Edition keeps OpenID Connect sign-in (Keycloak, Microsoft Entra, Google), two-factor authentication and the REST API as free modules.

What do HumHub modules cost?

Most marketplace modules are free. Paid ones were priced from €9 to €360 for the first year on the marketplace in October 2026; CUZY modules go from €25 to €360 the first year, renewals at half. On CUZY Hosting, Team gets the paid CUZY modules at 50% off and Business includes them.

What does hosting HumHub cost?

From a few euros a month for a server you run yourself, $11 a month for a virtual machine with HumHub installed (Elestio), €90 a month for a managed community with unlimited members (CUZY Team), to €144 a month for the Professional Edition with the publisher's hosting for 100 users (HumHub GmbH, October 2026), which brings its modules and the support of the company that develops HumHub.
